My name is Zachary Johnston, and I am intern for the summer here at Resolute! During the school year, I am a graduate student at Oklahoma State University in my second year studying mass communications. I also attended OSU for my undergrad studying strategic communications. However, do not let all the Oklahoma fool you, because I am a Texan through-and-through. I was born in Dallas before moving out to Canton, Texas. My high school experience was an interesting one to say the least. Graduating with only 29 in my class from a tiny country school left me yearning for an escape. Looking back, I appreciate all that I learned there. However, I knew I needed a change.
Communications was my degree field throughout all of college. I knew that I wanted to do something with social media especially. I love that it gives brands the ability to present themselves in a relatable fashion compared to more traditional media. Humor is something very important to me, and I feel like social media gives companies more opportunities to express that. In a more general sense, I just love communicating with people and building relationships. My professor in college always stressed that communications and PR is about the relationships. That is something that keeps the field exciting for me. Meeting people, building bonds and growing an audience are all things that I am passionate about.
Resolute PR has been an amazing experience for me this summer! I had met Nicole Morgan at Oklahoma State University and knew she was someone I needed to work for. She spoke with such enthusiasm about her work, and I can say that Resolute has absolutely lived up to the hype. Everyone that works here is extremely nice and knowledgeable in their field. Their experience has rubbed off on me, and I am enjoying the ability to utilize what I have learned in school. The job is fast and unpredictable, but Resolute has been an excellent teacher in how to overcome each hurdle. The people I work with carry a sense of expertise, while also being extremely down-to-earth and willing to cooperate to get the job done. I could not ask for more from my first internship experience in PR and communications.
